Study template: usability test

Test the task before you build the rest

See where users click first, then ask how clear the experience was.Paste your prototype URL and Fiuto builds this usability test around it, free, in minutes. Every block is yours to change before launch.

A preview player for the usability test template. It steps through the 4 blocks a respondent meets, resting on the first-click test.

How it works

Fiuto runs your full research loop

Paste a URL and Fiuto takes it from there. No research experience needed.

What you will learn

4 blocks, about 5 minutes to answer.

  • Where users click first to accomplish a task
  • How clear the next step feels
  • What, if anything, gets in the way

The study, block by block

In the order a respondent meets them. Every prompt is rewritten around your product when you paste the URL.

Who it is for

For a designer or product manager with one task in mind and a prototype to test it on: invite a teammate, find a setting, start a trial. It suits the first round on a new screen, before anyone has been told where things are.

If the task spans several screens, the prototype walkthrough template covers the whole journey. If the site is already live, the live website usability test watches people on the real thing.

Before you launch

The notes the template ships with, from the researcher who wrote it.

  • Frame the task as a scenario ("You want to..."), not a command ("Click on..."). Scenario tasks reveal mental models; commands only test motor accuracy.
  • Test with 5 to 8 people for an exploratory round, 15 or more when you're comparing alternatives.
  • Use a Figma prototype share link (a /proto/ URL), not a /file/ URL. The /file/ URL shows the editor, not the prototype.

What you get back

AI testers run the study first and report what they found, so you see whether the task reads and whether the questions land before a real person opens the link. Then the real responses arrive: every click, rating, and answer per respondent, and Fiuto's reading of them as findings, a readout you can share behind a link, and a deck.

Your data is yours: results as JSON or CSV through a per-study token, or over MCP from the coding agent you build in.

Frequently asked questions

01How long does the usability test take to answer?

About 5 minutes. 4 blocks: the intake, the task or the questions, and the follow-ups. Fiuto shows the estimate to respondents on the study's first screen.

02Can I change the blocks?

Yes, every one. Fiuto rewrites the template around your product when you paste the URL, and you can edit any prompt, add a block, remove one, or change the order before you launch. Save the result as your own template to reuse it.

03Who answers it?

AI testers first, so you see what the study finds before anyone real does. Then real people: recruited from a global panel of 300,000+ participants powered by Prolific, with demographic filters, or your own users when you share the link. Respondents open the link and answer, no account needed.

04Is this template free?

Yes. Every template and every block type is on every plan, including Free. The free plan includes 1 live study a month, 10 responses per study, and 600 AI credits a month. No card, no time limit.
