Study template: single-task usability test

One job, on the prototype your agent built

Give users one job on a live Lovable, v0, or Replit prototype and watch whether they can do it.Paste your Lovable, v0, or Replit URL and Fiuto builds this test around it, free, in minutes. Or ask your coding agent to do it over MCP.

A preview player for the single-task usability test template. It steps through the 4 blocks a respondent meets, resting on the prototype test.

How it works

Fiuto runs your full research loop

Paste a URL and Fiuto takes it from there. No research experience needed.

What you will learn

4 blocks, about 5 minutes to answer.

  • Whether people can complete one specific task without guidance
  • How easy or hard the task felt from their perspective
  • The exact moment they got stuck, from the screen recording

The study, block by block

In the order a respondent meets them. Every prompt is rewritten around your product when you paste the URL.

Instruction

One task to try

You're about to use a live prototype. There's one task to complete. Work through it at your own pace and stop when you feel done or stuck. There's no right answer.

03

Live prototype

You want to complete the main task this prototype is built for. Go ahead and try. Stop when you feel done or when you feel stuck.

In the prototype

Did you complete the task? Tell us what happened.

How easy was it to complete the task? (5-point scale, Very hard to Very easy)

Who it is for

For a builder shipping with a coding agent: the prototype works on your machine, and the question is whether a stranger can do the one thing it is for. It suits the moment between a working build and the next one, when a screen recording of a real person is worth more than another prompt.

For a multi-step journey, the prototype walkthrough covers the whole flow. For a Figma prototype rather than a live URL, the usability test runs the same task inside it.

Make it yours

Before you launch

The notes the template ships with, from the researcher who wrote it.

  • Use this for a single, well-defined task: "sign up," "send an invoice," "find the export." One task per study keeps the result clean.
  • Paste a live prototype URL from Lovable, v0, Replit, or Bolt. The respondent drives the real thing in their browser and declares done when they're finished.
  • The screen recording is the main deliverable here. Watch for where people pause, backtrack, or hover without clicking. Those are the friction points the self-report misses.
  • Run with 5 people. Unmoderated single-task tests hit diminishing returns quickly. Five is usually enough to spot the pattern.

What you get back

AI testers run the study first and report what they found, so you see whether the task reads and whether the questions land before a real person opens the link. Then the real responses arrive: every click, rating, and answer per respondent, and Fiuto's reading of them as findings, a readout you can share behind a link, and a deck.

Your data is yours: results as JSON or CSV through a per-study token, or over MCP from the coding agent you build in.

Frequently asked questions

01How long does the single-task usability test take to answer?

About 5 minutes. 4 blocks: the intake, the task or the questions, and the follow-ups. Fiuto shows the estimate to respondents on the study's first screen.

02Can I change the blocks?

Yes, every one. Fiuto rewrites the template around your product when you paste the URL, and you can edit any prompt, add a block, remove one, or change the order before you launch. Save the result as your own template to reuse it.

03Who answers it?

AI testers first, so you see what the study finds before anyone real does. Then real people: recruited from a global panel of 300,000+ participants powered by Prolific, with demographic filters, or your own users when you share the link. Respondents open the link and answer, no account needed.

04Is this template free?

Yes. Every template and every block type is on every plan, including Free. The free plan includes 1 live study a month, 10 responses per study, and 600 AI credits a month. No card, no time limit.
